UKRAINIAN SYMBOLS
Ukrainian ornament is a language of symbols passed down through generations. Geometric forms, plants, stars and protective signs were traditionally used to express wishes, preserve memories and carry meaning.
At MIARUNA, I reinterpret this symbolic language through my own designs and embroidery on leather. Some motifs are inspired by traditional Ukrainian symbolism, while others are created specifically for an individual piece and its story.
DAZHBOH — ABUNDANCE, GENEROSITY & PROSPERITY
The Dazhboh rune symbolises abundance, generosity and prosperity.
In this piece, the symbol is embroidered directly onto the leather, transforming its meaning into an integral part of the design.

MOTANKA — PROTECTION, FAMILY & HERITAGE
The Motanka is a powerful symbol of Ukrainian cultural heritage, associated with protection, family and the continuity of generations.
In this MIARUNA embroidery, the traditional image is reinterpreted through cross-stitch on leather. The figure becomes a personal talisman — a reminder of one’s roots, inner strength and the values we carry with us.

This embroidery brings together traditional Ukrainian symbols associated with abundance, well-being and protection.
The star represents divine blessing, light and protection. The wheat symbolises abundance, harvest and material well-being. The Tree of Life embodies growth, family, continuity and stability, while the diamond represents feminine energy, creation and the multiplication of prosperity. The cross brings harmony and protection in every direction.
